AUBURN, Ala. - Friends and families from the Auburn area gathered at Toomer’s Corner for the Roar at the Corner: Auburn City Schools Annual Homecoming Parade.
The Roar at the Corner Parade took place Thursday at 5:30 p.m. to get Auburn High School football fans excited for the homecoming game against Minor High School on Sept. 27. The game will kick-off at 7 p.m at Duck Samford Stadium in Auburn.
College Street and Magnolia Avenue closed down at 4 p.m. on Thursday for the fans to set up their chairs and cameras for the parade.
The Auburn High Marching Band, cheerleaders and color guard, and a caravan of the entire Auburn High football team led the way of the parade playing some of their favorite fight songs.
Children of all ages from Auburn’s Early Education Center were invited to join in the Roar at the Corner as well. They followed behind the football team throwing beads and candy to the cheering crowds.
The Auburn High homecoming court candidates finished out the parade riding in convertibles dressed in their gowns. One of the seniors on the homecoming court will be crowned the 2019 Homecoming Queen during half-time of the football game on Friday night.
Toomer’s Corner and Samford Lawn were filled with children playing and dancing during the festivities. Needless to say, the Auburn community and Auburn High School fans are excited for the homecoming game.
